Yunshuiyao Ancient Town

A national 5A-level tourist attraction, a famous historical and cultural village in China, a Chinese landscape village, and an exhibition site of the Zhangjiao ancient village in the southern Fujian (Zhangzhou) ecological and cultural reserve. It is a widely renowned picturesque mountain village in China, featuring serene ancient paths, thousand-year-old banyan trees, verdant mountains and clear waters, and magical tulou structures, resembling a richly colored landscape painting.

The ancient town is surrounded by mountains on all sides, stretching over ten square li. The meandering Changjiao Stream flows around the town, with small bridges crossing over it, connecting the villages on both banks as if they were linked by a sash. Along the streambanks, 13 thousand-year-old banyan trees spread out like umbrellas and canopies, twisting and extending with lush foliage, forming a spectacular banyan tree group.

Beneath the banyan trees, an ancient stone path winds its way through. This ancient trail was built along the Changjiao Stream, stretches 10 kilometers in length, and connects the Hegg Building and the Huaiyuan Building. The path was once the essential route for scholars from southern Fujian and southwestern Fujian traveling to Zhangzhou, the provincial capital, or the imperial capital to seek official careers, as well as a trade-rich thoroughfare. Strolling along it, you can enjoy views of tulou landmarks and pastoral scenery, making for a delightful experience.

A combined ticket is available for three attractions in Yunshuiyao Ancient Town: Yunshuiyao, Huaiyuan Building, and Hegg Building, priced at 90 RMB per person.

Students can enjoy a half-price discount upon presenting a valid student ID.

Transportation

1. Take a train to Nanjing Railway Station, then take the tourist bus directly outside the station to the destination. Buses run approximately once every hour, costing 20 RMB per person with a 1.5-hour journey; alternatively, go to Nanjing Bus Station and transfer to the tulou shuttle bus for 20 RMB per person; or hire a private car for about 40 RMB per person.

2. From Xiamen Hubin South Long-Distance Bus Station, take the 8:00 AM bus to Yunshuiyao. The fare is 55 RMB, and the journey takes about 3.5 hours.
