Dongxi Kiln Site

The Dongxi Kiln Site is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Nanjing Dongxi Kiln Site in Zhangzhou, Fujian, is an important ancient export porcelain production site in southeastern China. The kiln complex is large in scale, had a long firing period, and features rich cultural significance. Through scientific archaeological surveys and targeted excavations, a number of relics such as kilns, workshops, and residential areas have been discovered, along with a wealth of artifacts including porcelain, kiln tools, and other implements. It is known as the “Most Visually Impressive Kiln Site in China.” In July 2016, the State Administration of Cultural Heritage included the Dongxi Kiln Site in the first batch of heritage sites to be nominated for the “Maritime Silk Road: Chinese Sites” UNESCO World Heritage List.

The Dongxi Kiln is located at the junction of Hua’an and Nanjing. Zhangzhou kiln ware is characterized by its milky yellow glaze, which has a smooth luster and holds high value for both collection and artistry.

In 2019, the Dongxi Kiln Site was listed in the eighth batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.
