Ruins of Sishi Village

The ruins of Sishi Village are located between Jiaozhai and Wangtun in Jiaopo Town, about half a kilometer south of Taozi River. This site was once the location of Sishi Village during the Song Dynasty, which featured a building called Wangjiao Tower. During the Ming Dynasty, it served as a study place for Zhang Datong. When the Nan Ying Highway was constructed, bricks with various patterns were unearthed, including figured bricks, rope-patterned bricks, hemp-leaf-patterned bricks, and hollow bricks with scroll patterns.

Jiaopo Town: Jiaopo Town is located in the northeast of Funan County, approximately 23 kilometers from the county seat. It covers an area of 70.3 square kilometers, with 64,000 mu of arable land and a population of 60,000, including around 8,000 Hui people. The town administers 30 village committees and 168 natural villages. The ancient Run River, Taozi River, and Xiaoqing River flow through the area, making the land fertile, transportation convenient, and the surroundings shaded by green trees.

Jiaopo is a historic ancient town. Legend has it that it was the fief of Wu Ju, a famous general of the Spring and Autumn Period. During the Northern Song Dynasty, it was one of the ten major towns of Ruyin. Ouyang Xiu of the Song Dynasty often came here to drink and compose poetry, leaving behind the verse: “In Jiaopo in the eighth month, new wine ripens; autumn waters teem with fat fish, sliced as tender as jade, along the banks of the Qing River…” More details about Jiaopo Town ++
