Chaiqiu Ancient City

Chaiqiu Ancient City is located 20 kilometers southwest of Funan County and two kilometers south of the Hong River. During the Liang Dynasty of the Northern and Southern Dynasties, the Chaiqiu County was established here, which belonged to the double-headed commandery of Chaiqiu and Liangxing (now Aiting). Later, during the Eastern Wei Dynasty, Chaizhou was established but was abolished in the Northern Qi Dynasty. The ruins of Chaiqiu Ancient City are now known as Chaichenggang or Caishengang. The east and west earthen mounds of Chaicheng are connected, stretching 1.5 kilometers from the ancient Fahua Temple in the east to the lakeshore in the west. It is 0.5 kilometers wide, extending from the flood diversion channel in the south to the North Gate of the ancient city in the north. There are several ancient wells and the Fahua Temple, which once had four temple halls. The temple no longer exists, and its site has been replaced by Chaicheng Primary School. To the west of the city lies the Tomb of Prince Chai. Legend has it that it is the tomb of Prince Chai, who was enfeoffed by Emperor Taizu of the Song Dynasty, Zhao Kuangyin.
