Liu Qi Ancestral Hall is a cultural relic protection unit of Fuyang City.

Liu Qi Ancestral Hall is located on the northwest city wall of Fucheng. It primarily enshrines Liu Qi, a famous Southern Song Dynasty general who resisted the Jin invasion, along with Chen Gui, the prefect of Shunchang during the “Battle of Shunchang,” Tongpan Wang Ruohai, deputy generals Zhao Zun, Geng Xun, Han Zhi, Xu Qing, Yan Chong, and the rebel leader Cao Cheng.

Liu Qi Ancestral Hall has been continuously repaired throughout the dynasties, with three major renovations alone during the Qing Dynasty in the 10th year of Qianlong (1750), the 13th year of Jiaqing (1808), and the 3rd year of Guangxu (1871). In the early stages of the War of Resistance Against Japan, it was forcibly demolished under the pretext of “removing city defenses to guard against the enemy.” In 1941, the presiding Taoist priest Chang Hu’an raised funds to rebuild three main halls and three wing rooms on the original site. The central hall’s shrine houses painted statues of Liu Qi, Chen Gui, Wang Ruohai, and seven others.

Liu Qi Ancestral Hall is now a key cultural relic protection unit of Fuyang City.

Gulou Subdistrict: Gulou Subdistrict, Yingzhou District, Fuyang City, Anhui Province

The Gulou Subdistrict Office is located in the old city area. During the Song Dynasty, it was known as Shunchang Prefecture; in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was part of Yingzhou Prefecture. In 1945, it became Fuyang County Chengguan Town, and in 1958, it was designated as Fuyang City’s Gulou Subdistrict.

It was later divided into Dayukou and Beiguan communes. When the county-level Fuyang City was established in 1979, they were merged into Xiqu District of Fuyang City. After the merger of county and city in 1992, it was renamed Gulou District Office of Fuyang City. In February 1996, when the region was upgraded to a prefecture-level city, it became Gulou Subdistrict Office of Yingzhou District.
