Hefei Binhu International Convention and Exhibition Center is a large-scale public project jointly invested in by the Hefei Municipal People's Government, Hefei Binhu New District Construction Investment Co., Ltd., and the Hefei Key Projects Construction Management Bureau. Through the bidding process for the entrusted operation and management of both Anhui International Convention and Exhibition Center and Hefei Binhu International Convention and Exhibition Center, Anhui Meizhan International Convention and Exhibition Management Co., Ltd. officially won the bid on May 16, 2012, and has since become the entrusted operator for both centers.
Introduction
Located in Hefei’s Binhu New District, Hefei Binhu International Convention and Exhibition Center sits east of Luzhou Avenue, west of Guangxi Road, north of Jinxiu Avenue, and south of Nanjing Road. It covers an area of 58.62 hectares, with a total construction area of approximately 332,800 m². The exhibition section alone accounts for about 230,800 m², with an investment of around 1.5 billion yuan. Phase I of the project, with a construction area of about 179,600 m², includes six standard exhibition halls, a registration hall, the main exhibition building, and the connecting corridor. Once Phases II’s Halls 1#, 2#, 3#, and 4# are completed, the total exhibition area will reach 140,000 m², making it one of Asia’s largest convention and exhibition centers in terms of space and supporting facilities.
Registration Hall: As the iconic structure of the project, the registration hall features a novel and grand design. Functionally, it serves as the main venue for event registration, opening ceremonies, and VIP receptions, and stands as a landmark within the convention complex. The building is symmetrical along the central axis, using curved lines and surfaces in its layout, spatial form, and façade to create a unique, cohesive, and fluid architectural form. The hall spans approximately 10,000 m² across three levels: the first floor (8,082 m²) houses the main hall, check-in, and VIP reception areas, with a clear height of 29 meters and a load capacity of 5 tons/m²; the second floor (1,502 m²) is used for receptions and small meetings; the third floor (844 m²) contains equipment rooms.
Main Exhibition Hall: Composed of three truss sections, the roof features smooth, minimalist curves that create dynamic interior spaces. The façade is divided into three parts: a stone base, an aluminum panel upper section separated by a central glass band, resulting in a richly varied and blocky visual effect. It covers 23,000 m², accommodates 1,265 standard booths, and has a clear height of 15–18 meters, with entrances and exits oriented north-south. Additionally, there are 10 standard halls, each 10,000 m², fitting 550 standard booths with the same clear height and orientation.
Corridor: The two-story corridor includes a ground-floor commercial zone adjacent to the exhibition halls, forming an interactive mixed-use space for commerce and exhibitions. The second floor is an outdoor terrace for foot traffic and temporary functions. The commercial section features a façade combining glass and advertising panels for a rich visual effect.
Since its opening, Binhu Convention and Exhibition Center has actively supported the government in nurturing the regional exhibition market. On October 22, 2011, it successfully hosted the award ceremony of the 20th Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival. From April 25–27, 2012, it held the 67th National Pharmaceutical Trade Fair, covering 100,000 m² with around 2,000 pharmaceutical companies and 100,000 attendees—setting a record for the fair. It has also organized national and regional events such as the “6th China (Hefei) International Home Appliance Expo,” “5th China (Hefei) International Cultural Expo & 2011 China Arts and Crafts Fine Products Exhibition,” “2012 PetroChina Kunlun Gooday High-Level Forum,” “Faye Wong 2012 Hefei Concert,” and “China Unicom Fan Meet.” It has received groups such as the “Nanjing Jianye District Delegation.” In less than two years, the center hosted exhibitions totaling 300,000 m², spanning industries like home appliances, agricultural machinery, medical equipment, electronics, apparel, and food culture. These events have enhanced the city’s visibility, boosted the local tertiary sector, showcased Anhui’s resources and industrial strengths, and rapidly advanced the development of the regional exhibition market.
Convention and Conference Area: The second and third floors of the center house meeting rooms, with 23 rooms in total—7 on the second floor and 16 on the third—covering approximately 2,500 m² and accommodating up to 3,000 people. These spaces can host conferences of various sizes.
Facilities
Open-air parking is available across the entire exhibition site, with space for about 200 vehicles, plus an underground garage for 900 cars. This extensive parking capacity greatly meets the needs of exhibitors and visitors, ensuring smooth traffic during events.
