Muke Scenic Area

Muke Bamboo Sea is nestled within the mountain ranges near Hongcun, adjacent to Jililian Town, 15 kilometers north of Yixian County in Huangshan City, Anhui Province. It serves as the eastern gateway to Taoyuan Mountain Village and is the first settlement encountered when entering Yixian from Huangshan. The scenic area boasts 2,400 acres of lush bamboo forests, which spread out like a golden dipper. After the rain, the scenery features emerald bamboo groves, drifting clouds, and village homes tucked among them; on clear days, sunrise views resemble the sea of clouds on Huangshan, with undulating waves of green. Moon-gazing in the valley feels like stepping into a heavenly realm. The area encompasses six valleys and ten scenic spots, offering an enchanting experience akin to a paradise on earth. In recent years, it has attracted numerous poets, painters, photographers, hikers, and leisure enthusiasts. Chen Bo, Vice Chairman of the China Photographers Association, Tian Yuan, Executive Director, and renowned Hong Kong photographers Chen Fuli and Qian Wanli have all come here to create art. The globally acclaimed 2001 Oscar-winning film “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” was filmed here, specifically the iconic “bamboo forest sword fight” scene.
