Shexi Village: Overview of Shexi Village

Shexi Village is surrounded by mountains and is situated in the eastern part of Hongtan Township. It borders Guocun Township of Huangshan District to the east, connects to the mountain ranges of Hongtan Village and a corner of Taoyuan Township of Huangshan District to the west, neighbors Zhuxi Village and the Wuxi mountain range to the south, and lies adjacent to the mountain range of Tangtian Village to the north. The village covers an area of 15.7293 square kilometers, comprising six villager groups with 219 households and a population of 738.

Shexi Village got its name from the “Shexi Stream.” According to historical records, from the early Ming Dynasty until before the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Shexi and Zhuxi were collectively referred to as Shexi Fangjia, also known as Shangwudu Shexi Li, or “Upper Village,” under the jurisdiction of Shitai County, Chizhou Prefecture. … More detailed information about Shexi Village ++
