Dujing Hall

Dujing Hall was first built in the 43rd year of the Kangxi reign during the Qing Dynasty, over 290 years ago. It was originally the residence of Hu Jitang. The living room displays a portrait of the ancestor Hu Jitang, as well as a couplet rich in content and profound in life philosophy: “Reading is good, a good business environment is good, achieving good results is what matters; starting a business is hard, maintaining it is hard, but knowing the difficulties makes it not too hard.”

Xidi Village: Located at the southern foot of the Huangshan Mountain Range in Anhui Province, Xidi Village is in Dongyuan Township, Yi County, about 8 kilometers east of the county town. The road from Yi County to Tankou passes by the northwest side of the village.

The ancient dwellings of Xidi are largely well-preserved. Their architectural style stands out uniquely within the Huizhou school, featuring exquisite craftsmanship. The “three carvings” (stone, wood, and brick carvings) are especially finely done, with stone carvings being particularly outstanding. These are not only valuable physical resources for studying residential architecture of the Qing Dynasty, but also important materials for researching the socioeconomic patterns of Huizhou merchants, as well as the history of architecture and art since the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
