Jingxiu Hall

Jingxiu Hall is a typical Qing Dynasty residence in Hongcun, located on the west side of the northern part of the Moon Pond. It was first built during the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty. Covering a land area of 286 square meters and a built-up area of 452 square meters, the house is built on a foundation nearly 1 meter higher than the “Moon Pond,” with the entire structure facing south and featuring a courtyard in front of the main hall. What sets it apart from other residences is a 10-square-meter open space outside the courtyard gate, commonly known as the “hall platform.” This area serves as a place for cooling off in summer, sunbathing in winter, and relaxing or gathering.

Hongcun Village: Hongcun is located in the northeastern part of Yi County, Anhui Province. The village covers an area of 19.11 hectares. Established during the Shaoxi reign of the Southern Song Dynasty (1131 AD), it has a history of over 800 years. Backed by the mountain ranges of Huangshan, including Yangzhan Ridge and Leigang Mountain, the village sits at a relatively high elevation and is hailed as the “village in a Chinese painting.”

Hongcun is situated at the southwestern foot of Huangshan Mountain and to the north of Yi County. The village spans 4.1 square kilometers, with 768 mu of arable land, 13 villager groups, 437 households, and a population of 1,368.
