Shuren Hall was built in the first year of the Tongzhi reign (1862) by Wang Xingju, who was conferred the title of “Fengzheng Dafu” (a high-ranking official in the Qing Dynasty) and posthumously honored as “Chaoyi Dafu.” Also known as the Folk Art Collection Museum, it is a private collection curated by Wang Senqiang, the 95th-generation descendant of the homeowner Wang Sheng. To promote the historical and cultural heritage of Huizhou, the owner has spent years collecting old machinery from folk workshops and museums, stone tools, Huizhou woodblock prints, folk items, business correspondence utensils used by Huizhou merchants, Hongcun genealogical records, and more from the Ming and Qing periods, recreating certain aspects of social life in Huizhou at that time.

The entire foundation of Shuren Hall is hexagonal, symbolizing “prosperity in all directions.” The main hall and side rooms back onto the water channel and face south with their backs to the north. The ceiling features colorful paintings with gold embellishments. On the eastern side of the hall, a small pond is constructed within the limited space, with flowing fresh water. The outer gate is an eight-character gate tower with suspended lattice railings inside.

Hongcun Village: Located in the northeastern part of Yi County, Anhui Province, Hongcun Village covers an area of 19.11 hectares. Established during the Shaoyi era of the Southern Song Dynasty (1131 AD), the village has a history of over 800 years. Backed by the mountain ranges of Huangshan, including Yangzhan Ridge and Leigang Mountain, it sits at a relatively high elevation and is known as the “Village in a Chinese Painting.”

Hongcun is located at the southwestern foot of Huangshan Mountain, north of Yicheng. The village spans an area of 4.1 square kilometers, with 768 acres of arable land, 13 villager groups, 437 households, and 1,368 residents.
