Bawangshan Yaoling Xiushui Scenic Area is a National Water Conservancy Scenic Area.

Bawangshan Yaoling Xiushui Scenic Area is located in Wangcun Town, She County. The area features dense forests, towering ancient trees, lush flowers and plants, and evergreen scenery all year round. It integrates beautiful mountains, clear waters, lush woods, and serene pools, and has been celebrated since ancient times as a "heavenly paradise on earth."

1. Bawangshan

According to legend, the ancient Huizhou Shanyue people were in constant conflict. To stabilize the region, Xiang Liang, the uncle of Xiang Yu, sent his then 20-year-old nephew to the Bawangshan area to pacify the situation. Initially, Zhou Wang occupied Guanyin Mountain in Wangcun, while King Ping held control of Yuan’an. The situation was unfavorable for Xiang Yu. Disguised as a woodcutter, Xiang Yu scouted the terrain alone and discovered that Bawangshan was easily defensible and strategically commanding—it could threaten King Ping to the southeast and directly assault King Zhou to the northwest. He thus stationed his troops here. Later, after Xiang Yu became the Hegemon-King of Western Chu, locals named the mountain Bawangshan in his honor and built the Bawang Temple to commemorate him.

2. Bawang Rock

Bawang Rock stands atop Bawangshan, shaped like a giant turtle, proudly overlooking Huangdun Lake. The rock is about one and a half person-heights tall, with smooth, unblemished stone walls all around, and bears seal script inscribed on its top. Legend says that three heroes once fought a great battle here without a decisive victor. They later made a pact: whoever could lift this rock single-handedly from the foot of the mountain to the summit would be the winner. Neither King Zhou nor King Ping succeeded after multiple attempts, but Xiang Yu, wielding his sword in his right hand and lifting the rock with his left, managed to carry the massive stone to the mountaintop. As an ancient promise is worth a thousand pieces of gold, the strife among the three kings—Zhou, Xiang, and Ping—ceased from then on, and Xiang Yu reigned supreme. Hence, the rock was named Bawang Rock.

3. Yaoling Rock

Yaoling Rock is located in the northeastern waters of Yaoling Lake, standing approximately 7 meters tall with a circumference of over 8 meters. Its upper part resembles a male lion, while its base is square-shaped, much like a gigantic imperial seal. The rock bears inscriptions, mostly in tadpole script and seal script. The rock is covered with vines and grasses, said to have been left behind by the Yellow Emperor when he gathered herbs and refined elixirs in Huangshan.

4. Yaoling Lake

Also known as Crescent Lake, Yaoling Lake got its name after Yaoling Rock fell into it. The lake covers an area of 140 mu (about 9.3 hectares), with an average depth of around 5 meters, and features several small bays.

Wangcun Town: Located in the southern part of She County along the Xin’an River, Wangcun Town is 10 kilometers from the downtown area of Huangshan City and faces the Huashan Mysterious Grottoes across the river. The Hu-Hang Expressway runs through the town. To the northeast, it borders Tunxi District, Huizhou District, and Xiuning County, while to the southwest it neighbors Xiongcun Township, Sen Village Township, Shaolian Township, and Shimen Township within the county.
