Huangtian Stage

Huangtian Stage is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Anhui Province.

Huangtian Stage is located in She County, Huangshan City, dating back to the Qing Dynasty.

It faces south with a square in front. Built in the 2nd year of the Republic of China (1912), it has a span of 15 meters, a depth of 10 meters, a ridge height of about 10 meters, an eave height of about 8 meters, and a stage height of 1.7 meters. The front part of the stage foundation is built with cut stones. The stage opening is shaped like a Chinese character "八" (eight), and the outer walls of the eight-shaped walls are designed as false doors, with door pillars and lintels adorned with delicate wood carvings. The caisson ceilings and partition screens on the left and right wing stages are also finely carved. A horizontal plaque inscribed with the characters “He Sheng Ming Sheng” (Harmonious Sounds Proclaim Prosperity), gleaming with gold and colors, hangs from the center of the main beam under the eaves. The backstage area is used as a dressing room and resting space for performers.

In 2012, Huangtian Stage was announced as part of the seventh batch of provincial-level cultural heritage protection units by the People’s Government of Anhui Province.

Protected area: Extending forward to the stage square, and surrounding channels on the other three sides.

Construction control zone: A 50-meter buffer zone around the protected area.
