The Five Stone Arches of Xiongcun

The Five Stone Arches of Xiongcun are cultural relics protected at the provincial level in Anhui Province.

The Five Stone Arches of Xiongcun include the Grand Censor Archway, the Four Generations of First-Rank Officials Archway, the Bao Family Tomb Archway, the Zong'er Public Tomb Path Archway, and the Yuting Hall Gate Archway. These five archways differ in layout, architectural structure, and stone selection, all showcasing high levels of scientific and artistic merit. They not only hold significant historical value but also reflect the depth and richness of Huizhou culture in Xiongcun, making them rare intangible cultural heritage.

Grand Censor Archway: Located directly in front of the site of the “Chonggong Baode Shrine,” it was built in the 27th year of the Qianlong reign during the Qing Dynasty (1762). The archway is 13 meters tall and 8.5 meters wide, a three-bay, three-story, four-pillar blue stone structure.

Four Generations of First-Rank Officials Archway: Built in the 24th year of the Qianlong reign during the Qing Dynasty (1759), it is a three-bay, three-story, four-pillar towering blue stone archway, 11 meters tall and 8 meters wide, constructed from gray limestone, with two fierce stone lions standing on either side.

Bao Family Tomb Archway: A two-pillar, one-story blue stone tomb archway, 3 meters tall and 3 meters wide, a single-level structure, with the ground in front paved with large blue stone slabs.

Zong'er Public Tomb Path Archway: A two-pillar, two-story blue stone tomb path archway, 7.5 meters tall and 3.5 meters wide.

Yuting Hall Gate Archway: Located in the southern part of Xiongcun, it is a three-bay, three-story, four-pillar blue stone archway, 13 meters tall and 8.5 meters wide.

(1) Bao Family Tomb Archway.

Protected Area: 5 meters in front of the archway, including the entire tomb complex behind it.

Construction Control Zone: 50 meters beyond the protected area on all sides.

(2) Guangfen Liejue Archway.

Protected Area: From the front of the archway to Taohua Dam, and 5 meters to the left and right behind it.

Construction Control Zone: 50 meters beyond the protected area on all sides.

(3) Yuting Hall Gate Archway.

Protected Area: 5 meters around the perimeter.

Construction Control Zone: 50 meters beyond the protected area on all sides.

(4) Zong'er Public Tomb Path Archway.

Protected Area: 5 meters around the perimeter.

(5) Four Generations of First-Rank Officials Archway.

Protected Area: In front up to the retaining dam, behind and to the right 5 meters from the gateway hall, to the left up to the affiliated buildings of the ancestral hall.

It currently has 24 villager groups, 1,316 households, and a population of 3,537. The Xiongcun Village Party General Branch includes 2 Party branches with 83 Party members. In 2009, a new village office building was constructed with complete facilities. The main industries are tea production and tourism, with no collective income.
