The Changxi Taihu Ancestral Hall is a cultural relic protection unit of Anhui Province.

The Taihu Ancestral Hall was built during the Ming Dynasty. It is 40 meters long and 17.5 meters wide, with side structures including a “Meeting Hall,” “- District Office,” a theater stage, and other auxiliary buildings. The total area covers approximately 1,100 square meters.

The two nanmu pillars in the main hall have a circumference of 5.1 chi, and the lintel above the main gate features an imperial plaque inscribed with the words “First Family Under Heaven” bestowed by Emperor Taizu of the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Yuanzhang. In front of the Taihu Ancestral Hall lies a square that can accommodate seven to eight thousand people. On the 18th days of the second and tenth lunar months (grand festivals when the people of Changxi worship the eighth son of King Wang), as well as during the Spring Festival, a flower-decorated stage is erected in the square for performances of self-directed and self-acted shows by villagers.

The architectural techniques used in the Taihu Ancestral Hall hold extremely high artistic value, comprehensively reflecting the exceptional standards of layout, form, craftsmanship, and technology. It is of significant importance for the study of ancient Huizhou-style architecture and even the history of Chinese architecture.

On October 7, 2019, the Changxi Taihu Ancestral Hall was included in the eighth batch of Major Historical and Cultural Sites Protected at the National Level.

Protected Area: A perimeter of 5 meters around the outer walls of the ancestral hall, plus the open space in front of the gate, extending 5 meters beyond the screen wall to the south.

Construction Control Zone: A 50-meter buffer zone surrounding the protected area.

Changxi Village: Changxi Village is a model socialist new countryside village in Huangshan City and also a historical and cultural village in Anhui Province. It serves as the seat of the Changxi Township government. In early 2008, during the implementation of village-level administrative area adjustments, the former four administrative villages—Hongqi, Hongxin, Changyuan, and Michuan—were merged and renamed as Changxi Village.
