Damu Weir

Damu Weir is a cultural relic protection unit of Anhui Province.

The existing Damu Weir dates back to the Ming Dynasty and remains largely intact. It is an important irrigation project in Tangyue Village, featuring a three-gate structure that irrigates Shuangzhenkou. With a total length of 1,000 meters and a height of 3 meters, Damu Weir is an outstanding example of ancient rural hydraulic engineering. It continues to serve local villagers and holds significant historical value for the study of the development of ancient water conservancy.

Protected area: the entire dam body, plus a 30-meter buffer zone along the western bank, water outlets, and adjacent canals.

Construction control zone: a 50-meter perimeter beyond the protected area.

Tangyue Village: Located in She County, Huangshan City, Anhui Province, Tangyue Village is a settlement of the Bao family, whose generations have traditionally made a living through trade. It is world-renowned for its Memorial Archway Complex, which consists of seven archways arranged in pairs symbolizing Loyalty, Filial Piety, Chastity, and Righteousness. Built during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, these archways were erected to honor the “loyalty, filial piety, chastity, and righteousness” of the people of Tangyue. Adjacent to the archways are both the Men’s and Women’s Ancestral Halls, grand in scale and exquisitely crafted with brick, wood, and stone carvings. These structures have been recently restored to their original appearance.
