The Grand Ancestral Hall of the Dabangbo
The Grand Ancestral Hall of the Dabangbo is a cultural relic protection unit of Anhui Province.
The Grand Ancestral Hall of the Dabangbo is located in Dongsheng Village, Xucun Town, She County.
It was first built during the Jiajing era of the Ming Dynasty. Xucun Town has been a key junction along the official road since the Tang Dynasty. The Xu clan migrated here as a whole and gave the place its name. The hall was constructed in the late Ming Dynasty. As the oldest, largest in scale, and best-preserved ancient ancestral hall in Xucun, the Grand Ancestral Hall of the Dabangbo was built to honor and commemorate Xu Bosheng, the founding ancestor of the eastern branch of the Xu clan, along with other structures such as the Great Prefect’s Residence, the Five-Horse Archway, and the Grand Tomb Shrine. The hall has three courtyards and five bays, plus an entrance gatehouse. It is 60 meters deep and 18 meters wide, covering an area of approximately 1,080 square meters. The front of the hall faces the street and is fronted by a plaza.
Xucun Town: Located at the southern foot of Huangshan Mountain, Xucun Town is 21 kilometers from the county seat. It borders Shangfeng Township and Fusu Town to the southeast, and adjoins Huizhou District and Huangshan District to the northwest. The town covers a land area of 73.7 square kilometers, governs 15 village committees and 82 villager groups, with a total population of 9,845. Xucun is a mountainous township primarily focused on grain, forestry, and tea production. In 2003, the town had 8,355 mu of paddy fields, 808 mu of dry land, 6,847 mu of tea plantations, produced 125 tons of premium tea, raised 14,207 pigs annually, and 38,268 poultry birds annually...
