Tomb of Jianjiang

The Tomb of Jianjiang is a cultural relic protection unit of Anhui Province.

The Tomb of Jianjiang covers an area of [number] square meters and was built in the 2nd year of the Kangxi reign during the Qing Dynasty (1663). Jianjiang, a master of the Xin’an Painting School, often resided at Wuming Temple in his later years. After his nirvana, he was buried beside the temple. His friend Wang Taizheng composed his epitaph, Xu Chu inscribed the tombstone, and in accordance with Jianjiang’s final wishes, dozens of plum trees were planted around the grave, which is why it is also known as the “Tomb of the Plum-Flower Monk.” In 1982, it underwent major repairs: the tombstone was re-erected, a new epitaph was engraved, and a sacrificial platform along with stone railings were constructed. Today, the site features intertwining plum branches, shaded by pines and bamboos, exuding an atmosphere of serene solemnity.
