She County Ziyang Academy

She County Ziyang Academy is a cultural heritage site protected by Huangshan City.

Ziyang Academy is located in Huicheng Town, She County, dating back to the Southern Song Dynasty.

Ziyang Academy was established in 1246 during the Southern Song by Prefect Han Bu and became one of the country’s most famous academies, with a focus on spreading the Neo-Confucian teachings of Zhu Xi. Today, She County Middle School stands on the site of the original academy, continuing the scholarly legacy of ancient times.

Ziyang Academy has been designated as a cultural heritage site protected by Huangshan City.

Huicheng Town: The seat of government for She County, a famous historical and cultural city in China, Huicheng Town was established in the Qin Dynasty. After the Tang Dynasty, it served continuously as the administrative center of the prefecture and later the province, historically known as “Huizhou Prefecture.” It is one of the most representative sites of Huizhou culture. In Dou Shan Street and Yuliang Dam, visitors can explore the historical remains of Huizhou merchants who dominated trade for three to four hundred years during the Ming and Qing dynasties.
