Xiyuan Garden in She County is located in Zhengcun Town, She County, dating back to the Ming and Qing dynasties.

Xiyuan Garden is situated at the foot of Huangshan Mountain, in the ancient Huizhou city of She County on the western bank of the Lian River. The 26 completed buildings are each uniquely designed with an antique charm, perfectly recreating the architectural characteristics of the Ming Dynasty—robust beams and slender pillars, simple yet expansive—and those of the Qing Dynasty and the Republican era, noted for their rich cultural connotations and delicate carvings. All of them showcase the various functions of the grand residences of Huizhou merchant families, including ceremonial use, moral education, ambition, and leisure.

As the former seat of the ancient Huizhou Prefecture, it is only fitting that She County reconstructs traditional Huizhou-style mansions to revive the glory of the Huizhou merchants. The Huizhou-style old house that served as the model for Xiyuan was once owned by descendants of Emperor Taizong of Tang, Li Shimin. To escape war, they changed their surname and migrated south to settle in ancient Huizhou. The reason Xu Pulai chose this particular mansion as the model for Xiyuan was mainly due to its extraordinary and noble architectural elegance, making it a masterpiece among masterpieces. After numbering and dismantling the house components, they were reassembled following the principle of “restoring the old as it was,” gradually forming a grand residence by the western bank of the Lian River in She County that carries the culture of Huizhou clans, Huizhou merchants, Huizhou architecture, and Huizhou social civilization. The most legendary part is that during construction, an ancient stone gate plaque inscribed with the characters “Xiyuan” (West Garden) was unearthed from the ground at the construction site. This perfectly matched the geographical location of the estate, and thus, the name “Xiyuan” came into being.

Zhengcun Town: Located in the western suburbs of the county seat, Zhengcun Town is five kilometers from the county government headquarters and adjacent to Huizhou District. It is 30 kilometers from Huangshan Airport, with both the Wan-Gan Railway and Wutun Highway passing through the area.
