Ancient Architectural Complex of Zhuxiang Village

The Ancient Architectural Complex of Zhuxiang Village is a protected cultural heritage site of Anhui Province.

The Ancient Architectural Complex of Zhuxiang Village is located 1.5 kilometers from National Highway 205 and 67 kilometers from Huangshan Scenic Area. With a history of over 1,300 years, Zhuxiang Village is predominantly inhabited by people surnamed Zhu, descendants of Zhu Xi, the renowned Neo-Confucian scholar of the Southern Song Dynasty. The village boasts a rich cultural heritage and unique architectural landscapes. The ancient architectural complex includes two ancient residential buildings, 13 ancient bridges, nine ancient wells, and one ancient water street, all situated within Zhuxiang Village. Wells No. 1 to No. 9 in Zhuxiang Village are built along both sides of Zhuxi River, featuring rectangular stone structures with varying lengths, widths, and depths, all constructed during the Ming Dynasty.

1) Chuiyu Hall and Shaoxing Hall.

Protected area: 15 meters east, 10 meters south, 10 meters west, 10 meters north.

(2) Fucheng Bridge.

Protected area: 10 meters east, 10 meters south, 10 meters west, 10 meters north.

Construction control zone: 10 meters east, south, west, and north of the protected area.

(3) Shuncheng Bridge.

Protected area: 3 meters east, 6 meters south, 3 meters west, 6 meters north.

Construction control zone: 5 meters east, 9 meters south, 5 meters west, 9 meters north of the protected area.

(4) Shengwu Bridge.

Protected area: 10 meters east, 10 meters south, 5 meters west, 10 meters north.

Construction control zone: 10 meters east, 10 meters south, 5 meters west, 10 meters north of the protected area.

(5) Bridges No. 2–11 of Zhuxiang Village.

Protected area: 3 meters east, 6 meters south, 3 meters west, 6 meters north.

Construction control zone: 5 meters east, 9 meters south, 5 meters west, 9 meters north of the protected area. For Bridge No. 5, the construction control zone is 5 meters east, 4 meters south, 5 meters west, 4 meters north of the protected area.

(6) Wells No. 1–9 of Zhuxiang Village.

Protected area: 2 meters east, 2 meters south, 2 meters west, 2 meters north.

Construction control zone: 3 meters east, south, west, and north of the protected area.

(7) Zhuxi River in Zhuxiang Village.

Protected area: The entire area along the Zhuxi River from north to south within the village boundaries is under protection.

Construction control zone: Same as the protected area.

Caijiqiao Town: Located at the intersection of National Highway 205, Provincial Highway 217, and Caiyun Line, Caijiqiao Town lies in the heart of the county. It is 104 kilometers south of Huangshan City, 67 kilometers west of Huangshan

Scenic Area, and 140 kilometers north of Wuhu City. It serves as a vital land route for major cities such as Shanghai, Hefei, and Nanjing to access Huangshan, and is also the county’s transportation hub and gateway. One of the Yangtze River’s major tributaries, the Huishui River, flows through the town.
