On January 6, the “Featured Products and Tourism Promotion Event of Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province,” jointly organized by the People’s Government of Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture and the People’s Government of Guide County, was grandly held in Guangzhou. Lin Qingji, Vice Governor of Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, Cui Yong, Director of the Economic and Commerce Commission of Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Zou Jiafu, Deputy County Magistrate of Guide County, along with representatives from over 10 featured product enterprises in Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, more than 110 enterprises from Guangzhou, and over 300 distinguished guests including Mr. Huang Jingbo, the first Chinese-American mayor of the United States, attended the event.
The over 10 participating enterprises showcased at the promotion event offered a wide range of highly distinctive plateau products, including plateau green foods such as fresh yak meat, fresh Tibetan sheep meat, yak milk, yak beef jerky, as well as plateau soft pear drinks, Tibetan honey, and highland barley wine; and Tibetan folk handicrafts such as Regong thangka, Tibetan embroidery ornaments, pile embroidery, Tibetan incense, and home textiles like Tibetan sheep wool quilts. It is understood that these distinctive plateau products attracted over 110 Guangzhou enterprises. Eight strong commercial enterprises, including Chang’an Da Transportation Company, YuGuoHui Agricultural Service Cooperative of Panyu District, Guangzhou, and Guangzhou Kangcheng Commercial Co., Ltd., reached cooperation intentions on the spot with the participating enterprises. In addition, over 30 well-known travel agencies in Guangdong Province had exchange sessions on potential cooperation with the Guide County Tourism Bureau. Guangzhou Kangcheng Commercial Co., Ltd. expressed hope to reach cooperation soon so that consumers in Guangzhou can enjoy authentic green food from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau at an earlier date.

The “yak meat and Tibetan sheep meat” from Qinghai-Tibet Nomadic Company attracted the attention of multiple Guangzhou enterprise executives

At the promotion event, Lin Qingji, Vice Governor of Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, stated that this promotion event would focus on showcasing the most promising and investment-worthy development and cooperation projects, including green, natural, fresh yak meat, Tibetan sheep meat, beef jerky, sour fresh milk, and Tibetan honey produced by enterprises such as Qinghai-Tibet Nomadic, Snow Peak Dairy, Xiang Sanjiang, and Plateau Tibetan Honey, as well as Tibetan embroidery and Guide County cultural tourism. Leveraging Guangzhou’s developed commercial information and market, the goal is to enhance consumer awareness of Hainan Prefecture’s products and achieve mutually beneficial cooperation.
According to Zou Jiafu, Deputy County Magistrate of Guide County, Guide County is under the jurisdiction of Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, located 86 kilometers from the provincial capital Xining, and boasts extremely rich tourism resources, often referred to as the “Jiangnan of the Frontier.” The county is scattered with hundreds of tourist attractions and was rated as a National AAAA-level scenic area in 2010. With its profound Yellow River culture and beautiful natural scenery, Guide not only attracts a large number of tourists but has also hosted major events such as the Yellow River Winter Extreme Challenge, the Tour of Qinghai Lake International Road Cycling Race, the International Water and Life Theme Concert, the Qinghai Lake Poetry Festival, the World Climbing Competition, and the Photography Festival. In 2014, Guide County received 2.372 million tourists (visits) and achieved tourism revenue of 677 million yuan.
According to Professor Zhang Lingqin from the College of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry at Qinghai University, Qinghai is known as the “Capital of Yaks and Home of Tibetan Sheep.” Whether in terms of breed resources or historical and cultural significance, Qinghai yaks and Tibetan sheep have remarkable advantages. Yaks, along with polar bears and penguins, are known as the “Three Major Cold-Region Animals of the World,” while Tibetan sheep are among the oldest breeds in China, adapted to the harsh, high-altitude climate. Compared to ordinary cattle and sheep, they offer superior meat quality and higher nutritional value, making them more suitable for human absorption.

The Yellow River is clear at Guide in the land of rivers

Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture is located in the northeastern part of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, south of China’s largest saltwater lake, Qinghai Lake, covering a total area of 44,500 square kilometers. It is home to 450,000 people from 28 ethnic groups, including Tibetan, Han, Hui, and Mongolian, and is known as the “Gateway to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.” Hainan carries the beautiful legend of Princess Wencheng’s journey to Tibet and is also famed as the “City of Pear Blossoms” and for the phrase “The Yellow River is clear at Guide in the land of rivers.” The prefecture boasts rich tourism resources such as Qinghai Lake, the Yellow River, Longyangxia, the Kunlun Mountains, Danxia landforms, and ethnic and religious cultures. These form a unique, regionally distinctive, and ethnically vibrant eco-tourism culture with colorful attractions. The distinctive natural and cultural landscapes are awe-inspiring.
According to Cheng Guocai from Qinghai-Tibet Nomadic Specialty Products Development Co., Ltd., the company owns nearly 40,000 acres of pasture in the alpine meadows of Guide County, Qinghai Province, with an annual yak slaughter capacity of nearly 10,000 heads and over 20,000 Tibetan sheep. Additionally, the company has invested heavily in building a sterile slaughtering factory and large cold storage facilities, forming an integrated food production and processing enterprise encompassing grazing, processing, and sales. Through natural grazing, sterile processing, vacuum packaging, quick-freezing preservation, and finally air freighting the products to Guangzhou for sale, the company ensures a process from pasture to processing to sales that is purely natural, additive-free, and pollution-free.
Currently, the chilled yak meat and Tibetan sheep meat produced by Qinghai-Tibet Nomadic Specialty Products Development Co., Ltd. have begun sales in Guangzhou, allowing consumers in Guangzhou to enjoy authentic, natural green food from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
