Sanci Lecheng Bridge

Sanci Lecheng Bridge is a cultural relic protection unit of Anhui Province.

Lecheng Bridge is located in Sanci Village, Sanci Town, Jingde County.

Commonly known as the "Sanci Grand Bridge," it is also referred to as the South River Bridge. Originally built in the 22nd year of the Jiajing era during the Ming Dynasty (1543), it was destroyed by floods in the early Qing Dynasty. It was rebuilt through public fundraising during the Kangxi era of the Qing Dynasty (1662–1722). The bridge is 156 meters long and 6.20 meters wide, with a height of 9 meters from the bridge deck to the riverbed. The clear spans of the bridge arches vary, with the central arch measuring 11.50 meters. Stone railings are installed on both sides of the bridge deck.

Lecheng Bridge spans the Huishui River, with its southern end resting against Lion Mountain and the northern end built over the old Sanci Street. Second only to the Taiping Bridge in She County, it is known as the "Second Bridge of Southern Anhui." In the 2nd year of the Zhengde era of the Ming Dynasty (1507), a five-arch stone bridge and a pavilion were constructed, and the bridge was thus named "Tongjin Bridge." The 1799 edition of the *Jingde County Annals* states: “The South River Bridge is located in Sanci, thirty li north of the county, at the confluence of several waterways. In the 42nd year of the Jiajing era (1563) of the Ming Dynasty, Prefect Luo Rufang built it. During the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, local resident Jiang Zongkong rebuilt it. The river is wide and the bridge is long, with a total of eleven arches. The stonework is solid and the railings are well-aligned.” The bridge was named “Lecheng Bridge” because it was funded and constructed by Jiang Zongkong along with his relatives and fellow villagers.

Protection zone: 10 meters around the bridge.

Construction control area: 10 meters beyond the protection zone on all sides.
