Hidden Immortal Cave Cliff Carvings are a cultural relic protection unit of Anhui Province.

Hidden Immortal Cave Cliff Carvings are located on Zishan Mountain in Nijiacun Namei Group, Madu Village, Langqiao Town, Jing County.

It is a limestone karst cave, and at the foot of the mountain, about 60-70 cm above the water surface of the Huai River, there are remnants of an ancient plank road. This plank road was part of the ancient route from the southwestern part of Jing County to the territory of Jingde County. In the center of Hidden Immortal Cave, a stone pillar about one meter in diameter and over three meters long hangs upside down from the cave ceiling, less than half a meter from the ground. The base at the top has a bulge, tapering toward the tip, resembling a male genital organ, hence locals also call it Ma Shikua. Legend has it that infertile individuals who drink the spring water dripping from the stone pillar can conceive. On the outer rock wall of the cave, there is another stone niche called the “Female Genital Wall,” also regarded as a sacred object of local fertility beliefs. To this day, nearby residents still come here to worship, pray, and fulfill vows. It is said that there are over 20 cliff carvings around Hidden Immortal Cave, with 12 currently discovered. The cave’s rich and diverse historical and cultural significance stems from its phallic-shaped stalactite, numerous cliff carvings inside and outside the cave, the ancient plank road, and its unique natural ecological environment.

Protected Area: All cliff carvings, caves, river surfaces, and natural landscapes along the line from Zishan Hermitage Site to Hidden Immortal Cave, extending east to the flagstone ancient road, south to the southern bank of the Huai River, west 100 meters from the cave entrance, and north to the peak of Zishan Mountain.

Construction Control Zone: Outside the protected area, extending east to the flagstone road from Huizhou to the southwestern part of Jing County near Ma'anshan, south the same as the protected area, west to behind Nijiacun, and north to the tractor path at the foot of Zishan Mountain.

Langqiao Town: Langqiao Town is located in the southeastern part of Jing County, 28 kilometers north of the county seat and adjacent to Jingde County to the south. National Highway 205 runs through the town, placing it at the central point between Huangshan and Jiuhua Mountain scenic areas. The town covers a total area of 331 square kilometers, governs 12 villages and 1 community neighborhood committee, with a total population of 38,000. The town area spans 1.6 square kilometers, with a permanent resident population of 6,000 and a radiation population of 100,000, making it one of Anhui Province’s central towns.
