Volcanic Rock Valley

Known as the “No. 1 Stone Valley in China,” Tianmu Stone Valley, also called Volcanic Rock Valley, is located at the northern foot of the primitive forest of West Tianmu Mountain. The valley boasts the highest concentration of volcanic rock boulders in the area and was listed in the Guinness World Records in 2002. The scenic area features bizarrely shaped rocks and cascading waterfalls and pools, forming a rugged, overlapping mountain valley that stretches for several kilometers. With summer temperatures 5–10°C lower than the outside world, it is an ideal destination for escaping the heat.

Introduction

The valley is filled with uniquely shaped giant rocks scattered everywhere, descending straight from Tianmu Mountain to the valley floor. Natural formations such as the Welcoming Guest Rock, Mandarin Hat Rock, Frog Rock, and Flying Rock are strikingly lifelike. There are over 5,000 boulders weighing between 10 and 4,000 tons. The tallest, the Mandarin Hat Rock, stands over 30 meters high, while the largest flat rock, Eight Immortals Platform, can accommodate over 100 people standing on it. The heaviest, the Flying Rock, weighs 3,987 tons. The famous director Xie Jin visited and inscribed the words “No. 1 Stone Valley in China.”

The valley is rich in water resources with layered waterfalls. Features include Five Falls Pool, Splashing Water Pool, String Line Pool, Still Water Pool, and a natural ecological swimming pool covering an area of over 1,000 square meters with crystal-clear water, available for free swimming by visitors during the hot summer months.
