Meishan Island

Meishan Island is the only island township in the southeastern sea area of Beilun District, Ningbo. It faces Zhitouyang in the east, borders Tingzui Port in the south, and looks across to Fodu Island and Liuheng Island of Zhoushan City. To the north, it neighbors the Phase IV terminal of Ningbo Port. It is located 28 km from the Beilun central district, 45 km from downtown Ningbo, and 80 km from Ningbo Lishe Airport. It is the only undeveloped land in Beilun District.

Nestled in the East China Sea, Meishan Island is like a garden on the sea, facing the Buddhist paradise of Mount Putuo. Surrounded by ocean on all sides, Meishan is famed for its "silver tidal flats" (mudflats and salt pans) and the "three blossoms" (salt flowers, plum blossoms, and fish schools), earning it the expert title of a "world of blossoms." Its vast tidal flats yield a rich variety of rare seafood, while its endless salt pans nurture a long-standing salt culture.

Known as the "hometown of folk arts," "hometown of sports," and "hometown of martial arts," Meishan boasts a colorful array of traditional cultural activities such as martial arts, lion dances, dragon dances, stilt walking, Zaofu performances, horse lantern dances, boat lanterns, and Wanfeng lanterns. These customs, passed down from ancient times to the present, have created Meishan’s enchanting fishing-village cultural charm.
