Pingyuan Fort

Pingyuan Fort is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Pingyuan Fort: Located at the northeast foot of Jinqi Mountain in Weidou Community, Qijiashan Subdistrict, Beilun District, it faces An Yuan Fort under Wulonggang at the southern foot of Zhaobao Mountain across the river. Covering an area of 77.9 square meters, only one fort remains today. Constructed with lime-soil mixture, it has an L-shaped layout, measuring 20 meters in length and 5.3 meters in height, with walls 1.6 meters thick at the top and 2.5 meters thick at the bottom. Heavily damaged, only parts of the lime-soil remnants remain along the edge of a cliff. Historical records indicate that the fort was built in the 13th year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty (1887), and in the 14th year of Guangxu (1888), a 21 cm Krupp breech-loading cannon was installed. In 1936, Pingyuan Fort was dismantled, and its cannon was relocated to the new Zhan Yuan Fort at Qiankoumen.
