The Le Family Ancestral Hall

The Le Family Ancestral Hall is a cultural heritage site protected at the district level in Beilun.

The Le Family Ancestral Hall is located in Hutang Village, Daki Subdistrict, Beilun District, Ningbo City, and was designated as a district-level cultural heritage site by the local government in 1991.

It was originally the former residence of brothers Le Ren Gui, Grand Marshal, and Le Ren Hou, Grand Minister of Justice, during the Guanghua era (898–901) of the Tang Dynasty, but was later destroyed by fire. In the spring of 1735, during the 13th year of the Yongzheng reign of the Qing Dynasty, the front hall of the former residence of Minister Le was converted into the Le Family Ancestral Hall. It was expanded and renovated again in 1834, the ninth year of the Daoguang reign. The ancestral hall faces south and consists of two sections: an entrance hall and a main hall, with three wing rooms on each side. It covers a land area of 750 square meters and has a built-up area of 560 square meters. Both the entrance hall and the main hall feature flush gable roofs and a mixed post-and-lintel and rafter-and-purlin structure, with five bays each; the total width is 20.9 meters, the entrance hall is 6.4 meters deep, and the main hall is 12.65 meters deep. The ancestral hall currently houses one Qing Dynasty “Le Family Ancestral Hall Stele,” one complete set of the “Le Family Genealogy,” and 17 carved wooden screens.

The Le Family Ancestral Hall is the oldest and best-preserved ancestral hall in the Beilun area.
