Weidou Primary School History Exhibition Room

The Weidou Primary School History Exhibition Room is located at No. 45 Zhijie Street, Xiaogang Subdistrict, Beilun District, within the former site of Weidou Primary School.

Weidou Primary School was a pioneering elementary school established in 1927 by Mr. Tang Ailu to foster patriotism. It nurtured many enlightened and talented young students who embarked on revolutionary paths and has long been known as the “Red Fortress” standing at Jiaomen. In August 1938, the Zhenhai County Working Committee of the Chinese Communist Party was established, with its headquarters set up inside Weidou Primary School. On May 18, 1987, Xiaogang Primary School reverted to its original name, Weidou Primary School, and its branch campus (the former site of Weidou Primary School) was converted into a school history exhibition room. The exhibition is divided into ten sections: Establishing the School Amid Hardships, Constantly Exploring the Revolutionary Direction of Education, Gradually Building a Progressive Teaching Staff Centered on Communist Party Members, Reforming Educational Methods and Improving Education Quality, Practicing Patriotic and Revolutionary Ideal Education, the “June 19” Mass Arrest Incident, Struggles During the Forced Reorganization of the School, Creating Conditions for the Restoration and Development of the Zhenhai Party Organization, After the Occupation, and The Seeds of Revolution Bearing Fruit. Through a wealth of photos, historical materials, and explanatory texts, it showcases the revolutionary legacy of Weidou Primary School.

The former site of Weidou Primary School was designated as a district-level cultural relic protection unit by the District People’s Government in 1990. In March 1992, it was named a Ningbo Municipal Youth Moral Education Base, and in May 1996, it was listed as one of the first Beilun District Patriotic Education Bases.
