The stone carvings in front of Yang Jingsi’s Tomb are a cultural relic protection unit of Ninghai County.
The stone carvings in front of Yang Jingsi’s Tomb are located on the western side of Baisha Mountain in Huangtan Town, Ninghai County, and were designated as a county-level cultural relics protection unit in December 1982.
Yang Jingsi passed the imperial examination in the first year of the Shaoxing era (1131) during the Song Dynasty, rose to the rank of Court Gentleman for Consultation, and was granted the title of Marquis of Linhai. In front of his tomb stand two stone horses and two civil and military stone statues (Wengzhong), all carved in a bold style with lifelike images. They bear distinct characteristics of their time and hold artistic value. It is said that the Yang family was prominent in the Southern Song court, but fled en masse when the Yuan army invaded. Later descendants returned to their ancestral home. The tomb had been buried over time, and was later rebuilt by the Yang descendants.
