Stone carvings on the dragon pillars of Huangfeng Temple

Huangfeng Temple is located at the entrance of Haikou Village, about 17 kilometers from the county town. It borders Tiejian at the tail end of Xiangshan Harbor to the east, Jiyibao to the south, Qianjin and Zhanjia villages to the west, and Shaojia in Xidian to the north. The Yonglin Highway runs close to the west side of the temple. The temple faces east with its back to the west. The exact time of the temple’s original construction is unknown. It was rebuilt in the 18th year of the Daoguang reign during the Qing Dynasty. Inside, it enshrines Cao Bin, a great general of the Song Dynasty from Xiangshan. The current main hall structure dates back to that period, and the dragon pillars are the bridge columns of the main hall—there are four in total. They were donated by Wu Shao, a senior licentiate, and feature vivid designs, exquisite craftsmanship, and a majestic presence. These are the only stone-carved dragon pillars in the county.
