The Wushan Grottoes Daoshiyan Rock is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Daoshiyan Grottoes are part of the Wushan Grottoes complex. Not only are the rocks in the grottoes remarkable, but the stones on the mountain itself are also extraordinary. This mountain is also called Dongshan Cave. There is a small temple on the mountain, and we have a tradition of visiting “Dongshan Cave’s Deity” early on the morning of New Year’s Day.

The Wushan Grottoes (Buzhou Sacred Mountain Scenic Area) are located within Changjie Town, Ninghai County, Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province, situated by the Sanmen Bay. To the east, it neighbors Yuejingyang and faces Xiangshan County across the sea. It is about 25 kilometers from Ninghai County and just 100 kilometers from Ningbo City, making it a shining pearl on the golden tourism route of eastern Zhejiang. The Wushan Grottoes consist of five mountains: Song’ao Mountain, Daoshiyan, Buzhou Mountain, Congming Mountain, and Shilan Mountain. These five mountains are located on the coastal tidal flats of the East China Sea. In ancient times, the stone extracted here was transported to various places via waterways. It is said that the stone would harden upon exposure to air and water, so ancient stonemasons typically climbed to the mountaintop and dug vertical shafts downward to quarry the stone. After hundreds of years of mining during the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, over 800 pits were formed. Later, birds and animals brought plant seeds into the pits, leading to vegetation growth, and rainwater accumulated in the pits to form pools, resulting in the magnificent landscape seen today.
