Tianjin German-style Concession Area
The Tianjin German-style Concession Area is located within the former German Concession, bounded by Jiefang South Road and encompassing the area enclosed by Fujian Road, Qiongzhou Avenue, Taierzhuang Road, and Fenghua Road. Covering an area of nearly 18,000 square meters, it consists of 11 purely German-style villas. Once completed, it will feature various functions such as dining, tourism, and shopping, becoming a new highlight for commerce and tourism on the west bank of the Haihe River.
This area was formed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and holds an important place in the city’s history. It was once a gathering place for many notable historical figures from China and abroad, such as William Schindler and Hou Debang, leaving a profound impact on the area’s historical and cultural heritage. The construction of the German-style Concession Area will preserve the original German architectural style, transforming the district into yet another uniquely distinctive commercial block in Tianjin. Currently, the main structure of the project has been largely completed, with ongoing work on overall utility infrastructure, landscaping, and surrounding road renovations. Additionally, one small Western-style building will be renovated to prepare for future business attraction. Upon completion, the project will introduce a high-end boutique hotel to boost visitor traffic in the area, making it another new highlight for commerce and tourism in Hexi District.
The German-style Concession Area is adjacent to the Dagu South Road commercial district, borders the Xiaobailou CBD to the west, and lies close to the Haihe River scenic belt. Its excellent location provides a solid foundation for the development and operation of the project. Meanwhile, the construction of this project complements the surrounding environment, further enhancing the commercial and tourism atmosphere. In this triangular area, a romantic ambiance arises from the seamless integration of historical style with modern functionality, and the harmony between natural and cultural landscapes. It is reported that, as one of the seven foreign-themed scenic areas in Tianjin’s Haihe River development plan, the German-style Tourism Area will become a premium riverside district upon completion—boasting beautiful surroundings, diverse functions, and a blend of historical-cultural and commercial value.
