Former Site of the Haihe River Engineering Bureau

The former site of the Haihe River Engineering Bureau is a cultural heritage site under the protection of Tianjin Municipality.

The former Haihe River Engineering Bureau was located in Building 2 at No. 41 Taierzhuang Road. It is a historically protected building of key significance and a cultural heritage site under the protection of Tianjin Municipality. Built in 1911 as an office building, it is a two-story brick-and-wood structure. The exterior features red brick exposed walls, with a canopy and stone steps at the entrance. The main façade includes a bay window that projects outward, above which is a second-floor balcony, and the building has a hip-and-gable roof with dormer windows.

Established in the late Qing Dynasty, the Haihe River Engineering Bureau managed affairs related to the Haihe River. It carried out six river straightening projects. After the liberation, the Tianjin Waterway Bureau, which was responsible for managing the river, continued to use the site.
