Former Residence of Yuan Keding

The former residence of Yuan Keding is a protected cultural heritage site of Tianjin.

The former residence of Yuan Keding, the eldest son of Yuan Shikai and former member of the Central Research Institute of Culture and History, is located in Tianjin. The building stands on what was Seckendorffstraße in the former German Concession of Tianjin and was built in 1920. It originally functioned as the office building of the Hexi District Committee of the Communist Party of China in Tianjin.

Yuan Keding (1878–1958), courtesy name Yuntai, also known by the alias Master Huineng, was a native of Xiangcheng, Henan, and the eldest son of Yuan Shikai. After the outbreak of the Xinhai Revolution, he was entrusted by his father to win over Wang Jingwei. Later, he advocated for the imperial system and assisted his father Yuan Shikai in restoring the monarchy. After Yuan Shikai's death, Yuan Keding moved to Tianjin and lived in seclusion.
