Chastity Archway

The Chastity Archway is a cultural tourism attraction.

This archway is located 1,000 meters north of Gaofu Village, Gaofu Town, where a stone-structured memorial archway stands, known as the Chastity Tablet.

From the architectural structure of the archway, it is exquisitely crafted, embodying the wisdom of the working people.

This archway was built during the Qing Dynasty. It is 8 meters wide, 5 meters high, and 0.35 meters thick. The original archway was majestic in appearance, with a roof and upturned corners. Both sides were adorned with various exquisite patterns that were clear, intricately carved, and tastefully designed. The roof no longer exists, leaving only four standing pillars and the horizontal plaque. The stone pillars are engraved with carvings of various birds and plants, all vivid and lifelike. The bluestone horizontal plaque is inscribed with: “Erected in Honor of Madam Lu, Wife of Tai Student Zeng Buzhou.”
