Ningbo Tengtou Eco-Tourism Area is among the first batch of national AAAA-level tourist attractions. It is located 6 kilometers north of Fenghua City, an open coastal city in eastern Zhejiang, 27 kilometers from downtown Ningbo, 15 kilometers from Ningbo Airport, and 12 kilometers from the national scenic spot Xikou. The scenic area covers a total area of 1.1 square kilometers.

Here, the idyllic countryside is picturesque, and the ecological environment is delightful. The eco-tourism offerings include dozens of attractions such as the Jiangnan-style Garden, General’s Forest, Bonsai Garden, and Green Corridor. The sightseeing agriculture features a plant tissue culture garden, flower and seedling viewing area, vegetable seed and seedling base, and seasonal fruit picking. The unique rural custom amusement includes participatory activities such as spinning and weaving, field work, waterwheel operation, and rice milling, as well as animal performances like spirited oxen wrestling, gentle sheep butting, clumsy pig racing, and proud chicken dueling. The Tengtou Eco-Tourism Area fully leverages its status as a United Nations “Global 500 Roll of Honour for Environmental Achievement,” a national eco-demonstration zone, and a national environmental education base, allowing you to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and fully enjoy the beauty of nature and the joy of rural life. The eco-tourism area within Tengtou Village boasts beautiful countryside scenery and a pleasant ecological environment. Numerous attractions such as the Jiangnan-style Garden, General’s Forest, Bonsai Garden, and Green Corridor make up the eco-tourism section; the plant tissue culture garden, flower and seedling viewing area, vegetable seed and seedling base, and seasonal fruit picking form the agricultural sightseeing section; and participatory activities such as spinning and weaving, field work, waterwheel operation, and rice milling, along with animal performances like spirited oxen wrestling, gentle sheep butting, clumsy pig racing, and proud chicken dueling, together constitute the rural folk custom section. The natural scenery within the scenic area is bright and beautiful. The Ming and Qing Dynasty Fengbang Stone Carving Art Garden is fascinating, blending visual appeal with artistic value. The stone carvings in the garden vary in style—some tall and graceful, some richly rounded, some exquisitely refined, and others standing prominently—decorating the idyllic Tengtou with a rich cultural atmosphere while also showcasing the exquisite craftsmanship and profound historical and cultural heritage of classical Chinese sculpture. The cultural square within the scenic area also features a modern musical fountain and waterfall pool. Nestled between Ningbo’s Fenghua and Xikou, the Tengtou Eco-Tourism Area lies close to the Jiangba and Yonglin highways, situated on the Xiajiang Plain by the Shanyin River. It is 6 kilometers north of Fenghua City, 27 kilometers from Ningbo, 15 kilometers from the airport, and 12 kilometers from Xikou. With its focus on “eco-agriculture,” “three-dimensional agriculture,” and greening projects featuring “blue water and blue skies,” it forms a uniquely charming eco-tourism area that enjoys a high reputation both domestically and internationally. Since being honored as a United Nations “Global 500 Roll of Honour for Environmental Achievement” in 1993, it has gone on to receive over 40 national-level accolades, including the first batch of National Civilized Villages, National Environmental Education Bases, National Eco-Demonstration Zones, and one of the first batch of national 4A-level tourist attractions.

On May 18, 2010 (when Fenghua City, Ningbo, integrated the Xikou and Tengtou scenic areas into one in 2007), the Tengtou–Xikou Tourist Area was awarded China’s highest-level 5A-level tourist attraction, becoming the first such attraction in Ningbo. Last year, Tengtou was selected as the world’s only rural case in the “Urban Best Practices Area” of the Shanghai World Expo.

Tengtou Village is a small Jiangnan village with distinct water town characteristics and is also a world-renowned “Global 500 Eco-Village.” In recent years, Tengtou Village has adhered to a path of sound development featuring productive growth, prosperous living, and a sound ecological environment. Through adjustments and optimization, traditional agriculture has been upgraded, with the establishment of a high-tech vegetable, melon, and fruit seed and seedling base, a plant tissue culture center, and more. A modern agricultural structure integrating premium, efficient, export-oriented, eco-friendly, and sightseeing elements has essentially taken shape. The tertiary sector, mainly consisting of real estate, landscaping, and eco-tourism, is also thriving. Alongside development, the entire village places great emphasis on environmental protection and beautification, achieving harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.
