Martyr Zhuo Kaize's Tomb is a cultural heritage protection unit of Fenghua District and a classic site of red tourism.
Martyr Zhuo Kaize's Tomb, located on Zhujia'ao Mountain in Shanjia Village, Song'ao Town, Fenghua City, was designated as part of the third batch of municipal-level cultural heritage protection units by the Fenghua Municipal People's Government in February 1987.
Zhuo Kaize (1905–1928) was a native of Houshan Village, Song'ao Town, Fenghua. In 1919, he enrolled at Ningbo Provincial No. 4 Middle School, where he was influenced by the May Fourth Movement and actively participated in progressive activities both on and off campus, joining the progressive group "Snowflake Society" within Ningbo’s intellectual circles. In 1923, he was admitted to North China University, where he served as a student union leader, edited wall newspapers, and promoted Marxism. That August, he joined the Socialist Youth League and became a member of the Chinese Communist Party in December. He successively edited Political Life and China Youth, served as a member and head of propaganda for the Northern District Committee of the Youth League, secretary of the Zhabei District Committee of the CCP in Shanghai, member of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee, member of the Central Committee of the Youth League, and secretary of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Youth League. In April 1928, he was appointed as a special envoy of the Central Committee of the Youth League and secretary of the Hubei Provincial Committee of the Youth League. Despite the danger, he resolutely traveled to Wuhan but was unfortunately arrested while attending a secret meeting in Wuchang. He was martyred at the age of 23. In 1956, the Central People’s Government posthumously recognized him as a martyr.
The martyr’s tomb is situated on the mountainside of Zhujia’ao Mountain in the northeast of Song’ao, facing southwest. It is built of stone, with a base diameter of about 4 meters and a height of 1.90 meters. The tomb is encircled by stone. In front is an altar platform, 5.60 meters wide and 3.70 meters deep. Below it lies a slightly square-shaped platform, about 9 meters deep, followed by steps that allow visitors to ascend.
