Former Residence of Ba Ren
The Former Residence of Ba Ren is a cultural tourism attraction.
The Former Residence of Ba Ren is located in Dayan Village, Dayan Town, Fenghua City. It consists of two floors and is entirely made of wood, with the main structure painted red. Ba Ren’s bedroom during his later years is on the first floor of the residence and comprises two connected rooms at the front and back. It has now been turned into the Ba Ren Memorial Hall. Ba Ren, whose real name was Wang Renshu (1901–1972), once served as the editor-in-chief of *New Fenghua* and *Yi Bao Dajiatan*, was formerly associated with *Siming Daily*, and authored the novel *The Weary* and the short story collection *Prison*. He translated works such as *The Diary of a Soviet Russian Schoolteacher* and the Japanese novel *Iron*. Together with Xu Guangping, Zheng Zhenduo, Hu Yuzhi, and others, he contributed to the publication of *The Complete Works of Lu Xun*. He was China’s first ambassador to Indonesia (1950) and served as the president of the People’s Literature Publishing House.
