Former Site of the CPC East Zhejiang District Committee

The former site of the CPC East Zhejiang District Committee is a Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit, a classic red tourism attraction, and a patriotic education base.

The former site of the East Zhejiang District Committee is located in Hengkantou, Liangnong Town, Yuyao City. The CPC East Zhejiang District Committee was established in Sanbei (northern Zhejiang) in July (or possibly August) 1942, overseeing local committees in four districts: Sanbei, Siming, Kuaiji, and Pudong. It unified the leadership of the Party, government, and military affairs in the East Zhejiang region. In late April 1943, it moved to Liangnong. The site is an old-style wooden traditional house, featuring nine main rooms and four wing rooms, all with upper floors. Other historical sites nearby in Liangnong include the former headquarters of the New Fourth Army’s East Zhejiang Guerrilla Column, the First East Zhejiang People's Congress, and the East Zhejiang Branch of Lu Xun Academy. The site has been restored and is open to the public.

Hengkantou Village: Hengkantou Village is located in the southwestern part of Yuyao City, at the southern edge of Liangnong Town, adjacent to Provincial Highway Huxi Line. It is 2 km from Liangnong Town, 25 km from downtown Yuyao, and 48 km from downtown Ningbo. The village houses several historical sites, including the former site of the CPC East Zhejiang District Committee, the East Zhejiang Administrative Office, the East Zhejiang Anti-Japanese Military and Political Cadre School, the East Zhejiang Bank, and the East Zhejiang Newspaper Office. It is known as the “Red Village of East Zhejiang.” The village covers an area of 6.6 square kilometers, includes six natural villages, has a population of 2,509, and comprises 871 households.
