The Former Site of the Eastern Zhejiang Anti-Japanese Base Area is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit and a classic red tourism destination.
During the War of Resistance Against Japan, the Siming Mountains were one of the 19 base areas in China and made immortal contributions to the Chinese revolution. Countless revolutionary martyrs shed their blood here, leaving behind numerous red revolutionary relics such as the Siming Mountain Revolutionary Martyrs Monument, 0 the former site of the East Zhejiang District Committee, the former site of the Political Department of the New Fourth Army’s Eastern Zhejiang Guerrilla Detachment, the former site of the Headquarters of the New Fourth Army’s Eastern Zhejiang Guerrilla Detachment, the East Zhejiang Administrative Office, and the former site of the East Zhejiang Anti-Japanese Military and Political Cadre School. These sites bear witness to the glorious history of the Chinese people, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, resisting Japanese aggression and saving the nation from peril.
In 2005, due to its significant revolutionary historical and cultural resources, beautiful natural scenery, and prominent historical status in the War of Resistance Against Japan, the Siming Mountains were listed among the “100 Classic Red Tourism Destinations” prioritized for national development by 11 departments including the National Development and Reform Commission, the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, and the National Tourism Administration.
In the 2005 “Top Ten Chinese Red Tourism Destinations” selection jointly organized by the 0 CPC Central Committee Publicity Department’s magazine “Party Building” and China Red Tourism Network, the Former Site of the Eastern Zhejiang (Siming Mountains) Anti-Japanese Base Area was honored as one of the “Top Ten Chinese Red Tourism Destinations.”
On May 25, 2006, the Former Site of the Eastern Zhejiang Anti-Japanese Base Area was designated by the State Council, upon verification by the Ministry of Culture, as part of the sixth batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.

Simingshan Town: Located at the southernmost tip of Yuyao City, Simingshan Town borders Yinzhou, Fenghua, Shengzhou, and Yuyao, and is named for being situated atop the Siming Mountain Range.
