The former site of the Provisional People's Representative Conference of Various Circles in Eastern Zhejiang During the Anti-Japanese War Behind Enemy Lines is located at the former Zhengmeng School in the northeast of Liangnong Town. The Zhengmeng School was built in the 32nd year of the Guangxu reign during the Qing Dynasty (1906), founded by Mr. Huang Shouzhai as a renowned educational institution. Its name, Zhengmeng, carries the meaning of "cultivating uprightness from childhood to uphold justice." The school complex consists of front and rear sections, facing south and located to the north, featuring a moon-gate shaped entrance, a courtyard, a seven-bay front wing, another courtyard, east and west wing rooms, a five-bay rear wing, and five smaller side rooms in the rear, all enclosed by walls. The building materials used in the original structure are modest, with simple construction and decoration, typical of common residential architecture from the late Qing Dynasty.
From January 21 to 31, 1945, the "Provisional People's Representative Conference of Various Circles in Eastern Zhejiang During the Anti-Japanese War Behind Enemy Lines" of the Eastern Zhejiang Anti-Japanese Base Area was grandly held at the Zhengmeng School. Attendees included representatives from government, military, as well as delegates from the Kuaiji, Siming, Pudong, Sanbei regions, and coastal areas of Yin, Zhen, and Feng, along with representatives from the cultural and journalistic sectors — totaling 101 people. At the conference, Tan Qilong, He Kexi, and Lian Baisheng delivered political, military, and administrative reports, respectively, and a governance program was adopted. The conference elected the Eastern Zhejiang Administrative Committee and established the Eastern Zhejiang Consultative Council. After the meeting, the Eastern Zhejiang Administrative Office was officially formed. This conference was the first truly democratic assembly in the history of Eastern Zhejiang, a significant milestone in the establishment of the anti-Japanese political power in the region, and also a mobilization rally for the people of Eastern Zhejiang to strive for the final victory in the War of Resistance.
On October 16, 1987, this historical site was designated as a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit by the Yuyao Municipal People's Government.
