Traditional Residential Block on Wushengmen Road
The Wushengmen Road Historical Block is located in the northwest part of the ancient city, west of Yuhuan Street, north of Longquan Mountain, and south of Wushengmen. The streets and alleys in the area include Wushengmen Road, Taishoufang Road, and others. Wushengmen Road was named after an event in November of the fourth year of the Long’an era (400 AD) during the Eastern Jin Dynasty, when Gao Yaizhi defeated Sun En here. The historical block contains traditional residential architecture from the Ming and Qing dynasties belonging to government officials and a large number of civilian dwellings. The spatial scale of the streets and alleys and the overall historical character are relatively well preserved. Among them, the former residence of Wang Yangming — the "Ruiyun Building," Qinghui Jiaqi Building, the Ni Family Residence, Taishoufang, the Shi Family's Former Home, the Huo Residence, Wusheng Bridge, ancient wells, and other cultural heritage sites and protected points are well maintained.
