The Gong Clan Ancestral Hall in Shitan
The Gong Clan Ancestral Hall in Shitan is a cultural relic protection unit of Yuyao City.
Gong Clan Ancestral Hall
Located in Shitan Village, Luting Township, the existing structure was built during the Qing Dynasty. It consists of an entrance hall, a main hall, and side chambers on both sides. The layout is intact, and the carvings are quite exquisite, making it a representative example of ancient ancestral hall architecture in the mountainous region of Yuyao. The Luting Gong family migrated from Wuling, Hunan, and during the Ming Dynasty, produced Gong Hui, an official who served as Vice Minister of Works. This ancestral hall is a historical testament to the culture of the Gong clan. On April 26, 2010, the Gong Clan Ancestral Hall in Shitan was designated as part of the fifth batch of municipal-level cultural relic protection units in Yuyao City.
