Hebao Lane Ye Family Courtyard

Hebao Lane Ye Family Courtyard is a cultural heritage site protected by Yuyao Municipal Government.

Hebao Lane Ye Family Courtyard is located on Hebao Lane in Xianqingdi Community, Yuyao City, and is a mid-to-late Qing Dynasty building. The area is a gathering place for the Ye clan, divided among five brothers. The Ye Family Courtyard belongs to the eldest branch of the Ye family, situated to the east of the Ye Family Scholar’s House (the second branch of the Ye family), and is commonly known as the “Wisteria Shed.”

The Ye Family Courtyard faces south and features a traditional three-sided courtyard structure, with its main gate opening to the east. The main building has a double-eaved, flush-gable roof, five bays wide, and is constructed with a post-and-lintel system, featuring seven pillars and nine purlins. The materials used are relatively robust. Under the eaves is a covered corridor with moon beams, and the beam ends are slightly carved. The east and west wing rooms each have two bays and are connected to the side bays of the main building, with a depth of three pillars. The southernmost room of the east wing opens to the east and features an external door hood with a stone-framed gate structure, adorned with brick carvings above. The eave above the gate is decorated with upturned corners. At the back of the main building, there is another door opening to the north, also with a stone-framed gate structure, similar in design to the eastern gate.

As the residence of the eldest branch of the Ye family, it complements other structures such as the Ye Family Scholar’s House, holding certain historical value.

On September 23, 2014, the Yuyao Municipal People's Government designated it as part of the sixth batch of municipal-level cultural heritage protection units.
