Lv Ben, styled Ruli, also known as Nanqu and Qizhai, was a native of Yuyao, Zhejiang. He held various high-ranking official positions, including Grand Guardian of the Heir Apparent and Grand Secretary of the Wenyuan Pavilion. His greatest contribution to his hometown was petitioning the imperial court to approve the expansion of the southern city wall, which stood opposite the northern wall, thereby effectively blocking the westward advance of Japanese pirates and safeguarding the socioeconomic development and the safety of lives and property along both banks of the Yao River.

On September 23, 2014, the People's Government of Yuyao City announced it as part of the sixth batch of municipal-level cultural relic protection units.
