Wu Family Compound

Wu Family Compound is a cultural relic protection unit of Yuyao City.

Wu Family Compound is located at Nos. 3–10, Lane 67, West Yangming Road, Yangming Community, Yangming Subdistrict, Yuyao City. It faces south. The original layout along the central axis consists of an entrance hall, main hall, and rear building, with courtyards between each section, and brick walls in front of the east and west wing rooms dividing the courtyard into three parts. The surviving structures include the main hall, rear building, and two side wings.

The main hall is a single-story building with a flush gable roof, featuring five bays. The central bay has raised beams, with five pillars reaching the floor and a six-rafter beam structure. The rear building is a two-story structure with a flush gable and double eaves, featuring five bays, and a mixed post-and-lintel and raised beam construction with nine pillars and eleven purlins. Between the main hall and rear building are three side rooms with hipped-gable roofs. Behind the rear building lies a backyard, with two side wings on the east and west sides.

The current layout of Wu Family Compound is relatively regular and well-preserved, reflecting the typical architectural features of late Ming Dynasty buildings in Yuyao.

On September 23, 2014, the Yuyao Municipal People's Government announced it as part of the sixth batch of municipal-level cultural relic protection units.

Yangming Subdistrict: The administrative area of Yangming Subdistrict covers 53.57 square kilometers, with a registered population of 93,000 and a migrant population of 85,500. It governs 20 villages (communities), 8 communities, and 1 neighborhood committee, and has 21 primary and secondary schools. In 2009, under the correct leadership of the municipal Party committee and government, Yangming Subdistrict adhered to the guidance of the Scientific Outlook on Development, earnestly implemented the spirit of the 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and focused on the work goals of "industrial modernization, agricultural industrialization, distinctive commercial development, urban-rural integration, and social legalization."
