The Ancestral Hall of the Yan Clan in Huangqingyan
The Ancestral Hall of the Yan Clan in Huangqingyan is a cultural relic protection unit of Yuyao City.
The Ancestral Hall of the Yan Clan is located on Citang Lane, Huangqingyan Village, Ditan Subdistrict, Yuyao City. It is a brick-and-timber structure built during the Qing Dynasty. This ancestral hall enshrines Yan Ziling, a revered scholar of the Han Dynasty and one of the “Four Sages of Yuyao.” Historical records such as the "Record of the Guest Star Shrine" indicate that the hall was initially constructed in the early Western Jin Dynasty. It has undergone multiple renovations over the dynasties, with the current structure dating back to the Qing Dynasty.
The hall originally had three sections front to back, flanked by wing rooms, and featured a stage in the courtyard, but only the main hall remains today.
The main hall has a flush-gable roof and is five bays wide. As a shrine to Yan Ziling, the building also boasts rich carvings, giving it considerable cultural heritage value.
On September 23, 2014, the Yuyao Municipal People's Government designated it as a Cultural Relics Protection Unit in the sixth municipal batch.
