Friendship Bridge
Friendship Bridge
: A stone bridge located near Baizhaisu Village, about 1.5 kilometers east of Guidamen Village, built around the year 1000. During the Chunxi era of the Song Dynasty, Lü Guishu, a retired imperial tutor, settled here in seclusion. Zhu Xi came to visit him, and the two met on this stone bridge. Overjoyed yet speechless, they were moved to tears. Seeing the verdant bamboo-covered mountains, tall and upright, and the clear spring flowing beneath the bridge, the large rocks polished smooth and round as jade by the water. Moved by the scene, Zhu Xi gladly inscribed the words “Stone Spring Washing Jade” (石泉漱玉), and the original stone carving of his handwriting still remains.
