Built in the third year of the Taiding era of the Yuan Dynasty (1326 AD), the temple was erected to commemorate Wang Lienv, a martyr woman from the Southern Song Dynasty. It has undergone several renovations over the dynasties, with the current structure dating back to its reconstruction in the 25th year of the Republic of China (1936).

Wang Lienv was a local woman from Linhai. In the first year of the Jianyan era of the Southern Song Dynasty (1276 AD), she was captured by Yuan soldiers. To avoid dishonor, she swore to die on Qingfeng Ridge. Later generations, moved by her integrity, built a temple in her memory, renaming Qingfeng Ridge to Qingfeng Ridge. On the second day of the second lunar month and the fifteenth day of the tenth lunar month each year, crowds of people come from all over to pay homage to the Goddess Qingfeng, forming a grand temple fair. The Qingfeng Temple serves as a tangible representation of national integrity and patriotic education. With its long history and exquisite architecture, it is also one of the key cultural relic protection units in Shengzhou City.
